The Funeral Service for Norman is at St Theresa’s on Tuesday 24th April at 2pm. The Requiem Mass for Philomena Pellegrini is yet to be confirmed. Beryl’s Requiem Mass will take place at St. Columba’s on Thursday 3rd May at 12 noon.

This week, after 11a.m. Mass, in the church hall during coffee, Nicholas Broughton, a member of the Halle Orchestra and the Manchester Bridgewater Hall Orchestra and will be playing the Classical Double Bass and Guitar to raise funds for the World Scout Jamboree. We also have a special guest to help raise funds and hope that the generosity of our supportive parish will reach deep for our young people.
Thank you very much to everyone who helped with or supported the Coffee Morning for the Third World Group at St. Columba’s last Sunday. We raised £130.74.
UPTON CHURCHES TOGETHER – DATE FOR YOUR DIARY – ANNUAL TRIP:
On Wednesday 23rd May, there will be a coach trip organised by CTU. This will consist of a guided tour of Norton Priory followed by afternoon tea at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral and finishing with Choral Evening Prayer at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. Cost: £20. FAMILY BINGO – FRIDAY 27th APRIL:
Starting at 7.00 p.m. we will be holding a fun Family Bingo evening, to win prizes, in St. Columba’s church hall. All are welcome, including those who are attending Mass first. There will be teas, coffees and juice, please bring anything stronger yourself. Entry is only £1.00.
SPRING FAYRE – SUNDAY 13th MAY:
We need the following items for the Spring Fayre: – jewellery, toiletries, bric a brac, toys and games. We will ask for cakes to be brought in on the day. We have decided not to have books and CD’s this year. please leave your items in the sacristy. Thank You.
RED MISSION BOXES:
The annual St Columba’s Red Mission Box results for 2017 was £1,697.40. Thank you all for your continued support.
On Monday morning 16th April, thirty parishioners will set out on pilgrimage to Walsingham, returning on Thursday 19th April. Prayers will be offered for our Parish at Our Lady’s Shrine, please keep the pilgrims in your prayers.

DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES:
This year marks the 160th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady to Bernadette in Lourdes. The Diocesan Pilgrimage will take place from 26th July – 3rd August overland and 27th July – 2nd August by air. Fr. Jonathan is taking a group of parishioners (by air). If you are interested, please contact either Fr. Jonathan or the Parish Office for further details.
AN EVENING WITH FARNDON BRASS ENSEMBLE & FRIENDS:
Fancy an evening of popular music, light-hearted verse and repartee whilst enjoying your own picnic and wine. (Tea and coffee will be available during the interval). If so, then join us on Saturday 21st April at 6.00pm (doors open 5.30pm) at Upton United Reformed Church, Heath Road. Tickets £5 at the door, children free.
UPTON-BY-CHESTER ANNUAL PARISH ASSEMBLY – To be held in “The Hub” at Upton High School on Monday 23rd April commencing at 7.00 pm. Upton residents are urged to attend this Assembly and to offer their views on local Upton issues. The evening will include a guest speaker from the Countess of Chester Country Park. For all families that are affected by mental illness and those that work with them. A Healing Mass will be held at St James’, 40, Underwood Road, Hattersley, Hyde, SK14 3DH on Saturday 21st April at 12 Noon. There will be an Anointing of the Sick during the Mass and an opportunity for socialising and meeting members of the Diocesan Mental Health Action Group afterwards.
