MORNING PRAYER (St Columba’s) – CHANGE!!
Until further notice Morning Prayer will take place at 9.00 a.m. before the Blessed Sacrament in Church Monday through to Thursday, except Wednesdays, when Morning Prayer will commence at 8.50 a.m. followed at 9.10 a.m. by Novena Prayers to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour prior to Mass which will take place as normal in the Iona Chapel
St. Columba’s: Between 6.00 p.m. and 6.25 p.m. before the Vigil Mass. At other times by arrangement with Fr. Jonathan.
St. Theresa’s: Confessions are heard after every weekday Mass.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNIONS, ST. COLUMBA’S:
Family celebrations of the Sacrament continue throughout May. At the 11.00a.m. Mass each Sunday some or all of the central pews will be reserved for the children and their families.

UPTON & BLACON CHURCHES TOGETHER:

BLACON CHURCHES TOGETHER – UNITED PRAYER WALK:
This takes place on Wednesday 16th May at 1.30p.m. Meet at Holy Trinity Church, Norris Road. A short easy walk finishing at Holy Trinity Church Hall for light refreshments. All welcome.

CHRISTIAN AID LUNCH ON 16th MAY:
Churches Together in Upton are holding a Christian Aid Lunch on Wednesday 16th May at Holy Ascension Church: 12noon to 1pm. These lunches are a great way to meet up and make new friends. No cost, but donations to Christian Aid will be gratefully accepted.
Our next Confirmation Mass will be on Tuesday 27th November 2018. If you are already at High School, or older and would like to prepare to be Confirmed please get a form from the sacristy. Completed forms should be left in the bright pink folder marked ‘Confirmation’, also in the sacristy. If you would like further information please phone Denise Lusk on 379742, or speak to a member of the Confirmation Team at church (Steve Holland, Sue Hutcheson, Denise Lusk & Amy O’Donnell). There will be an information meeting for Confirmation candidates and parents on Tuesday 12th June at 7pm in the Iona Chapel, please fill in a form before then so we can make enough information packs. ADULT CONFIRMATION GROUP:
We have a small group of adults who wish to be Confirmed. Please speak to Father Jonathan if you would like to join the group and prepare to be Confirmed in November. There is no upper age limit. If you are unsure about being Confirmed please speak to Father Jonathan anyway.
POSTPONEMENT OF THE SVP MASS WITH THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK:
Reminder – we have had to postpone the aforementioned Mass scheduled to take place Saturday 19th May. We will arrange another date for the Mass which I will publish in the next few weeks.
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION (ST. THERESA’S):
This is taking place straight after Mass on the Feast of the Most Holy Body & Blood of Christ, 3rd June. To ensure there is always someone in Church there is a list of watching at the back of the church, please put your name on it if you are available. Thank you.
This takes place TODAY in St. Theresa’s club after the 9.30am Mass. Please do come along and support this event. Thank you to everyone who’s brought in goods for the Fayre.
The 200 Club has recently paid for materials to refurbish the Perspex around the statue of Our Lady in the parish garden.
YOUTH GROUP (10-14 YEARS):
The next youth group meeting will be tomorrow, Monday 14th May, starting at 7.15pm in the Iona Chapel and finishing at 9 pm in the hall/outside if the weather is good.
WANTED! Enthusiastic flower lovers to join our team and make our church even more beautiful. The current flower group would love some help with church flower arranging, no experience necessary. Please see Marie, Anne or Sue after Mass or call Marie on 01244 340564.
A big thank you from Ellie Marsden who celebrated her 100 years birthday this week, despite having to spend it in hospital. However now returned home and hopefully on the mend, and looking forward to the postponed celebrations. Thank you all for all your cards, mass offerings, gifts and prayers, I am getting around to looking at them all, I am truly blessed. Thank You.
CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE CIO:
The Catholic Women’s League will be holding an “Afternoon Tea Party” on Monday 14th May at 1 p.m. in St. Francis Church Hall. All welcome. Tickets £3.00.
ST. THERESA’S SCHOOL AND NURSERY:

PRAISE AND WORSHIP MUSIC GROUP:
We are hoping to start a praise and worship music group in the local area in Chester and Ellesmere Port and are currently seeking a pianist and drummer. We will be performing of fairly regular basis and wish to play similar music to Tim Hughes, Michael W Smith and Matt Redman. Upton welcomed visitors from Arradon in Brittany, France, from 27th to 30th April as part of the twinning between Upton and Arradon, which is now in its 26th year. Upton Community Links would like to thank St Columba’s for their hospitality in allowing the French coach and members of the twinning to use St Columba’s car park over the weekend.
