DEACON TOM COYLE:

We give a warm welcome to Deacon Tom who has recently been appointed to serve as Deacon at St. Columba’s Church. Deacon Tom has given a short biography of his life below:

I am happy to be known as Deacon Tom. Together with my wife Lyn, we have recently moved to Chester from Maidstone in Kent where I have been a deacon for almost 19 yrs. I have been appointed as a deacon in St Columba’s parish along with Deacon Lawrence.

I was born and brought up in Dunfermline, Scotland, before moving to London where I worked in the Civil Service for 40 yrs. My wife is from Lincolnshire and her career has been in education as a teacher and head teacher. We have two children, both of whom are Social Workers, one in Sussex, one in Manchester. We moved here to be near our son and his family who live in Sale. Before we moved here we came to Mass at St. Columba’s and were impressed by friendliness of people and beauty of the Church, and look forward to getting to know you all better. As a deacon I have a ministry of service and hope that I will be able to continue that ministry here with you as we work together in building up our Christian community and sharing the Gospel of joy.
