MORNING PRAYER (St Columba’s):
Until further notice Morning Prayer will take place before the Blessed Sacrament in Church Monday through to Thursday, except Wednesdays, when Morning Prayer will commence at 8.50 a.m. followed at 9.10 a.m. by Novena Prayers to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour prior to Mass in the Iona Chapel.
WEEKDAY MASS (St Theresa):
Weekday Masses are now said in the sacristy at St Theresa’s until further notice.
Sunday 14th October is a Special Day of Prayer for Prisoners and their families.
October is the month of the Holy Rosary. The Rosary will be said after the 7pm Mass on Wednesday at St. Theresa’s.
St. Columba’s: Between 6.00p.m. and 6.25p.m. before the Vigil Mass. At other times by arrangement with Fr. Jonathan.
St. Theresa’s: Confessions are heard after every weekday Mass.

MASS FOR THE CELEBRATION OF THE SICK:
Thank you to all who came along to this last Sunday, who gave lifts or who helped in any way. A special big thank you to those who helped in school for their help in hosting the refreshments and entertainment afterwards, the children’s singing was brilliant.
For those who have died recently, especially John Taylor May the Lord grant them Eternal Life and console their families and friends. John’s Requiem Mass will take place on Monday 15th October at St Columba’s Church at 12 noon.

ST COLUMBA’S COFFEE AND CAKES:
Coffee and cakes after 11am Mass this week is for Children from Chernobyl – to enable a group of young children from Belarus to spend a holiday in this area. While enjoying a good time, they also receive physical checks. Please come and support us.
All Parish Catechists involved in preparation programmes for Baptism, First Sacraments and Confirmation, and the Children’s Liturgy team, are invited to renew their commitment at the Masses next Sunday 14th October.

QUIZ NIGHT FRIDAY 12th OCTOBER:
This is our annual Quiz Night, arranged in conjunction with Churches Together in Upton and held in St. Columba’s Hall, at 7.30pm. Admission on the door; £2, nibbles provided, teas and coffees served, bring your own wine. The Quiz is arranged for teams of six – pre-arranged or made up on the night, so if you are “unattached” do please come along! Not too serious, always a very enjoyable evening. Proceeds to CAFOD and Christian Aid.
‘SINGING FOR JUSTICE; SINGING FOR PEACE’:
On Sunday, October 14th, 4.00pm, at Hoole URC church, there will be a ‘Songs of Praise’ type service organised by the Chester Christian Aid Committee. It will include hymns chosen and introduced by members of churches around Chester – including St. Columba’s and St. Theresa’s. There will be a retiring collection going to Christian Aid’s Harvest Appeal. All welcome.
ONE WORLD WEEK
There will be a service at St Theresa’s for this on Saturday 20th October at 11am.

(St Theresa’s) – Children have the opportunity for their own Liturgy at the 9.30 a.m. Mass on Sunday.
(St. Columba’s) – Could you take a turn leading the children’s liturgy at 11am Mass once every couple of months? All resources and ideas are provided. Dates to suit you. At present it is for primary school children, older children who’d like to help, and pre-school children with a parent or guardian. ‘ACTS’ (‘Adult Catholics Together Spiritually’):
The 2018 residential retreat will take place Fri 26 – Sun 28 Oct. Fr. Tony McGrath will lead the retreat entitled ‘Living the Eucharistic Mystery’ to coincide with ‘The Year of the Eucharist’. AID TO THE CHURCH IN NEED:
Please support the Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) this weekend as we welcome international speakers from the Church in Iraq and Pakistan to talk about their Suffering Churches. Learn about their struggles in the face of extreme persecution and their hopes for a better future. Please pray for all those suffering persecution around the world. MEMORIAL MASS – BRO JAMES KIMPTON:
This Mass is being held at St. Werburgh’s Church at 2.00pm on the anniversary of Bro James’ death, Saturday 27th October. St. Werburgh’s parish is where he spent his childhood. The Mass will be followed by talks and films about his work with “Reaching the Unreached”, the charity he founded in South India, and one we in this parish have supported for many years. Refreshments will be served. All welcome.
