CAFOD FUNDRAISING AND CAMPAIGN:

The new World Gifts catalogues hold a range of virtual gifts that make a real difference to communities around the world. Not only are these great gifts for friends and family, they are also a way to keep Christ’s love for the poorest members of our global family at the heart of Christmas giving. Catalogues are in the porches of both churches.

Share the Journey – Pope Francis’ global campaign for the rights of people on the move. Cards, which give details of the campaign, urge the Prime Minister and all world leaders to sign agreements which offer hope and protection to those forced to flee their homes. The cards are available in the porches of both churches for you to sign. Signed cards can be sent directly to CAFOD or left in the basket and Ann McCarthy will collect them.

UN CLIMATE CONFERENCE:

One of our Parishioners, Catherine Green, has travelled this week to this Conference in Katowice, Poland, with 30 CAFOD delegates from many UK dioceses. They are hoping to influence the signatories to hear the cry of God’s earth and commit to serious actions to check climate change which is especially catastrophic for the poorest countries. On her return, Catherine will share her experiences and help us to explore what we can do locally to care for creation and preserve the planet for future generations. The climate conference hashtag is #COP24. See @ChangeAndCare and @CAFOD on Facebook and Twitter.

200 CLUB:

The GRAND DRAW will be on Sunday 16th December. The prizes are £150, £100 and £50. Good Luck! This club has paid for the re-wiring for the Loop System in St. Theresa’s.

CLOTH FOR THE CRADLE – 11.00 MASS:

Cloth for the cradle, cradle for the child.

The child for our every joy and sorrow;

Find him a shawl that’s woven by us all

To welcome the Lord of each tomorrow

1. Darkness and light and all that’s known by sight,

Silence and echo fading,

Weave into one a welcome for the Son.

Set earth its own maker serenading.

2. Hungry and poor, the sick and the unsure,

Wealthy whose needs are stranger,

Weave into one a welcome for the Son,

Leave excess and want beneath the manger.

3. Claimant and queen, wage earners in between,

Trader and travelling preacher

Weave into one a welcome for the Son,

Whose word brings new life to every creature.

4. Wrinkled or fair, carefree or full of care,

Searchers of all the ages,

Weave into one a welcome for the Son,

The Saviour of shepherd and of sages.

CHURCH SHOP (St Theresa):

There are Christmas cards, calendars and diaries available on the table at the back of church. Please have a look on your way out.

PARISH REFURBISHMENT – REDEVELOPMENT OF GARAGE:

Good news! The Diocesan Finance Committee has agreed to our proposal to develop the garage at the rear of St. Columba’s church into an area where the numerous voluntary groups of parishioners involved in supporting the work of the church could meet comfortably and a parish office could be located. This will allow Fr Jonathan to use the existing parish office as a place where he can meet parishioners. The funding comes from the generosity of parishioners’ contributions to ‘Our Mission Together’ with a supplement from parish funds held by the diocese. Plans and further details will be provided for parishioners to see as soon as they are available.
