MORNING PRAYER (St Columba’s):

Until further notice Morning Prayer will take place before the Blessed Sacrament in Church Monday through to Thursday, except Wednesdays, when Morning Prayer will commence at 8.50 a.m. followed at 9.10 a.m. by Novena Prayers to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour prior to Mass in the Iona Chapel.

CONFESSIONS

St. Columba’s: Between 6.00 pm and 6.25 pm before the Vigil Mass. At other times by arrangement with Fr. Jonathan.

St. Theresa’s: After every weekday Mass.

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL

The next meeting is on Monday 21st January in St Theresa’s Parish Centre at 7pm.

BON VOYAGE:

Fr Isidore is away on holiday until the end of January. Please pray that he has a happy holiday with his family. Whilst he is away there will be Mass on a Friday at St Theresa’s at 9am. But no Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

UPTON & BLACON CHURCHES TOGETHER:

This week we pray for:

CELEBRATION OF MARRIED LIFE & JUBILARIAN’S MASS – 9 FEBRUARY

A diocesan celebration of married life and jubilarian’s Mass will be held at St Columba’s Church at 12 noon on Saturday 9th February. Those who are celebrating a significant Wedding Anniversary (Silver, Ruby, Golden, Diamond) and newly married couples will be specially welcome. If they wish to receive a personal invitation from Bishop Mark, they should send their names, address and the anniversary being celebrated to Fr Jonathan at either St Columba’s or St Theresa’s Church Offices as soon as possible.

200 CLUB:

The new envelopes are available at the back of church as are forms for anyone wishing to join.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY (St Theresa’s):

Children’s Liturgy will start again this Sunday, 13th January.

DIOCESAN YEAR BOOK:

Copies of the Diocesan Year Book are available in the church porches, price £5.

YOUTH GROUP FOR 10 – 14 YEAR OLDS:

The next meeting of the youth group will be THIS Monday 14th January, starting at 7.15pm in the Iona chapel and finishing at 9pm promptly. We will have activities, games, refreshments and prayers, a chance to learn a bit more about our faith, have fun, meet friends and make new friends.

WHITE FLOWER APPEAL:

The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) will be holding its annual appeal this weekend of 12th /13th January at St. Columba’s and next weekend 20th January at St Theresa’s. SPUC is currently campaigning to stop the decriminalisation of abortion, which means taking abortion outside the law. This is the most dangerous threat to unborn children and their mothers in decades.

Please be as generous as you can to help us defeat this latest attack on unborn babies and their mothers, and to stop abortion getting even worse in this country by decriminalisation.

CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION:

The CHS Parents’ Association invite you to a Family Bingo Night on Friday, 25th of January 7 pm at the Catholic High School. A bar will be open. Adults and children welcome. Thank you in advance for your support.

WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY:

This takes place from Friday 18th – Friday 25th January. The theme this year is Only Justice. There is a service at URC Blacon on Saturday 19th January at 10.30am and services will be held at Upton URC led by the three churches in turn. All sessions at URC Upton at 2.30pm, apart from the special Sunday Unity service which will be held at 4.30pm. If anyone is able to lead the sessions on Wednesday 23rd, Thursday 24th or Friday 25th for St Columba’s please contact Stella Lunney on 01244 313872 or email stellalunney@tiscali.co.uk  The session formats and details are in an easy to follow booklet.

Please try to join us for these sessions, which allow us to listen and learn from each other and our fellow Christians.

CCRS

The next module – a choice of: Religious Education in the classroom or Introduction to Liturgy, for the Catholic Certificate of Religious Studies begins on Saturday 19th January 2019 at Our Lady’s, Ellesmere Port, CH65 8BY 10:00 – 3:30pm with the second on Saturday 19th February 2019. You may start the course (comprising 8 modules) at the beginning of any module – registration forms and details are on the website at ccrs@diocesofshresbury.org

FIRST FORGIVENESS MEETING (St. Columba’s):

A reminder that the Parents’ Meeting to discuss this sacrament will take place tomorrow, Monday 14th January at 7.00pm in St. Werburgh’s and St. Columba’s School. The First Forgiveness Celebration for the children will be on Saturday 26th January at 10.00am here at St. Columba’s church.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS’ AND READERS’ ROTA:

(St. Columba’s) It isgetting near the time for preparing the new Rota from beginning of February – if you know you are going to be away, it would be helpful if you could let Carol know asap.Many thanks for your co-operation.
