Until further notice Morning Prayer will take place before the Blessed Sacrament, in Church at 9.00 am Monday through to Thursday, except Wednesdays, when Morning Prayer will commence at 8.50 am followed at 9.10 am by Novena Prayers to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour prior to Mass in the Iona Chapel.
St. Columba’s: Between 6.00 pm and 6.25 pm before the Vigil Mass. At other times by arrangement with Fr. Jonathan.

EASTER FLOWERS (St Theresa’s):
If you would like to give a donation towards flowers to decorate the church over Easter, please put it in an envelope, marked Easter Flowers, in the Offertory basket. Many thanks.
There is a tradition in some parishes to buy Easter Lilies in remembrance of a deceased loved one. If you would like to buy an Easter Lily, please place £1 in an envelope clearly marked “Easter Lily” with the name of your loved one, and place it in the offertory basket. These lilies will decorate the Sanctuary during Easter, along with a list of names of those remembered.

UPTON & BLACON CHURCHES TOGETHER:
This week we pray for:
· The residents of Essex Road, DevaLane, Walnut Close, Cleves Close, Roman Drive, Cavalier Drive and Hadrian Drive.
· For the Library, Pavilion, and recreational areas in our community. For all adults and children that they will be safe as they enjoy leisure time.
The cyclone and its aftermath have left the headlines but it is still an ongoing humanitarian disaster. The Third World boxes at St. Columba’s will be available for any further donations until Easter Sunday. Thanks you very much for your support.
VOLUNTEERS – HOLY WEEK:
Please could we have volunteers at St. Columba’s to hand out leaflets and newsletters over Holy Week. We are looking for volunteers for Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil. In each case we need 2 volunteers in the front porch and one in the back porch. Any help would be very much appreciated.
DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY 28 APRIL, ST COLUMBA’S:
2.00pm Sacrament of Reconciliation
2.45pm Blessing and veneration of the Divine Mercy picture
3.00pm Holy Hour including recitation of the Chaplet, meditation on the Divine Mercy and concluding with Benediction
The service on Divine Mercy Sunday is an opportunity to receive Our Lord’s promises of specific, extraordinary graces on the Sunday after Easter. “The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion (on this day) will obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment” (St Faustina). There is a novena which is traditionally said in the 9 days before Divine Mercy Sunday. You are invited to attend this service and receive the extraordinary graces from Our Lord.
PRAYER FOR THE SICK AND HOUSEBOUND:
May the Communion we share with the members of our parish family, who are unable to be with us today, remind us to live for one another and give them a sense of belonging to our family, and to this celebration.
SPUC ANNUAL PRO-LIFE CHAIN:
The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children will hold its annual Pro-Life Chain on Saturday 27th April, Hoole Road at 11.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. on Hoole Road near Canadian Avenue. This is a Still, Silent and Peaceful demonstration advocating the Defence of Unborn Children and their Mothers from Abortion.

GOOD NEWS FROM OAKS:
The building of the Secondary OAKS 2 School in Bo, Sierra Leone, is now underway. The Primary School is expanding, now with a two form entry in Class 1. Results in all the national examinations have been very good indeed. St. Columba’s Third World Group continues to support this school which we have watched grow and succeed since it opened in October 2007. The latest newsletter is on the Third World, notice board in the front porch at St. Columba’s, and Margaret Jarrett, the founder of the OAKS charity is serving coffee in the Hall after Mass this Sunday.
If anyone wishes to consider making a bequest to the Parish, please speak to Fr. Jonathan to discuss the arrangements.
DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES 2019:
As part of the Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes 2019 Fr. Jonathan is taking a small group of parishioners (by air) from Friday, 26th July – Thursday 1st August inc. If you are interested please contact Either Fr. Jonathan or the Parish Office for details.

The Guides have recently completed a Period Poverty Badge. This has led them to an awareness of the problem and they now wish to support local homeless woman and to reduce the stigma that comes with this topic. They are collecting deodorants, baby wipes and sanitary products. There will be a box in the back porch for anyone wishing to support them. Thank you.
