CAFOD Support Group Strawberry Tea 23-7-17

The Chester CAFOD Support Group draws on supporters from all the Chester parishes and organises various events to raise money to donate to CAFOD. These include social events that are both enjoyable and very valuable in bringing together parishioners from the different churches.

On Sunday 23rd July 2017 the Support Group organised an enjoyable seasonal event: a Strawberry Tea. All that was required was a sunny Sunday and a lovely garden – and these came together on Sunday 23rd July in the McCarthy’s garden in St Chad’s Road, Blacon, along with an abundance of cream & strawberry scones, cakes and teas.

Weatherwise that morning was very dodgy, but collective prayers were duly answered to produce glorious sunshine all afternoon, a very happy gathering, and the goodly sum of £350 for CAFOD. Many thanks are due to the McCarthys, the Support Group and helpers – of all ages!

Sue Bownas, formerly CAFOD’s manager for Shrewsbury Diocese, was there to capture the scene – and, being behind the lens, she was about the only person not to feature in these pictures …
